Gunung Kawi Temple

Bali Island has many historic locations with buildings that each carve has its meaning. one of them is Gunung Kawi Temple. The charm of the Gunung Kawi Tampaksiring Temple is very real. Anyone who comes will surely be amazed by this spectacular work of art. But that is the uniqueness of Gunung Kawi Temple. Unlike the building of temples or temples in general in the form of piles of rocks, but the carvings of temples in this tourist complex look very perfectly carved into mountain rocks.

Gunung Kawi Temple is located in the Banjar Sebatu, Sebatu Village, Gianyar - Bali. This spiritual tourism object has a land area of 5000 square meters and has been visited by tourists since the 1970s. Even now there are still many tourists who come to visit. To reach the location of this unique temple must be taken with a truly extraordinary effort.

Because the visitors who come must spend extra energy by walking up the 300 steps to arrive. Therefore, before planning to come, physical and energy must be prepared as much as possible. Although you have to struggle on the road, the beautiful scenery of rice fields that stretches into a soul-soothing friend. The green rice looks very refreshing plus the coolness of the mountain air until it feels tired again.

The environment at Gunung Kawi Temple is still very natural and beautiful. Even right behind the temple, there are cliffs and forests so it looks green and gives a fresh cool feel. Like the temples in general, Gunung Kawi Temple also adopts the Tri Mandala system which consists of Jaba Pura, Central Jaba, and Viscera. In the Jaba Pura section (outside courtyard), there are public baths that are often used by residents for bathing.

This bath has a wide enough pool with very clear and refreshing water and is equipped with showers. The position of the bathing pool is on the right side of the Gunung Kawi Temple complex. There is also a fish pond containing koi fish of various types and sizes. This fish pond is saved so that no one can take or catch fish in this pond.

In the courtyard outside the temple, there is also an open hall. This hall is used as a place for meetings of Sebatu Village residents. It can also be used as a place of rest by the visitors while enjoying the beauty of the atmosphere in the temple.

This temple includes "Dhang Kahyangan" which means that all Hindus in Bali can worship at this temple. So that isn’t only residents of Sebatu Village may worship at this temple, but all Hindus in Bali are allowed to pray here. Because it’s a sanctified location, visitors who come are required to wear traditional clothing. Sarong has been provided in the ticket window for visitors while coming to the Gunung Kawi Temple area.
